Day 1: Sunday, September 5th, 2010: US departure:
Meet your Mater Dei Tours representative at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport (Flights are included from Chicago, Illinois. Contact us for air transportation from other cities - add-on costs may apply). Board your flight to Lisbon, Portugal. (M)

Day 2: Monday, September 6th, 2010: Arrive in Europe in the morning.
After European Immigration, board your motor-coach for a beautiful panoramic tour of Lisboa (Lisbon), the Capital of Portugal. The city tour includes sites like Jeronimos Monastery, Monument to the Navigators, Belem Tower, St. Anthony of Padua’s Birthplace, Lisbon’s Cathedral and more. A thanksgiving Mass* for a safe arrival is scheduled to be celebrated at St. Anthony’s in Lisbon. After the tour, enjoy a leisure afternoon in Lisbon, Check into your hotel and enjoy dinner with your fellow pilgrims before retiring (M, D). * All Mass locations are subject to final approval from local ecclesiastical authorities.

Day 3: Tuesday, September 7th, 2010: Santarem & Fatima:
After breakfast, travel this morning to a small Portuguese town to witness the 13th century Eucharistic Miracle of Santarem. An amazing story accompanies this old Eucharistic Miracle. Holy Mass* and Eucharistic Adoration are scheduled in this church. After our visit to quaint Santarem, relax and enjoy the ride with views of the Portuguese countryside as we approach one of the most famous Marian Shrines, the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. This is the famous site where Our Lady appeared to 3 little shepherds in 1917. Upon arrival, visit a popular store in Fatima that serves a delicious lunch buffet (not included). After hotel check-in, enjoy an orientation walk of the Shrine’s grounds, chapels and Basilica. Meet your fellow pilgrims for dinner at our hotel. Afterwards, join pilgrims from all over the world to pray the Holy Rosary at the Sanctuary grounds in a candle light procession. Day 4: Wednesday, September 8th, 2010 (Feast of Mary’s Birthday): Aljustrel, Valinhos, Fatima Light & Peace Exhibit and Liturgical Conference: After breakfast, join the group for an excursion to the site of the August 19th Marian Apparition as well as the apparition site of the Angel of Portugal. Also see the homes of Blessed Francisco and Blessed Jacinta (with a possibilities of meeting relatives), as well as the home of Lucia’s family in Valinhos. Tour the Parish Church where the three visionaries where baptized. Return to the hotel for lunch and then experience the amazing “Fatima, Light and Peace” exhibit reserved for our group, where you’ll see the bullet that struck John Paul II at the assassination attempt of May 13, 1981 (Feast day of Our Lady of Fatima) in St. Peter’s Square (Vatican). The liturgical conference starts this evening. Dinner follows the conference. Holy Mass* for the Feast Day of Mary’s Birthday is celebrated at the Opus Angelorum Chapel. Those who wish so, may join pilgrims from around the world for the Candle Light Rosary at the Capelinha. Day 5: Thursday: September 9th, 2010: Liturgical Conference:
Full day of
the liturgical conference with breaks for Lunch and Dinner. Holy Mass* follows the conference at the Opus Angelorum Chapel. Rosary Procession follows Mass (for those who wish to join). (B, L, D) * All Mass locations are subject to final approval from local ecclesiastical authorities.

Day 6: Friday September 10th, 2010: Liturgical Conference:
Another full day of the liturgical conference with breaks for Lunch and Dinner. Holy Mass* (Extraordinary Form). Rosary Procession follows Mass (for those who wish to join). (B, L, D) * All Mass locations are subject to final approval from local ecclesiastical authorities.


Day 7: Saturday, September 11th, 2010: End of Conference, brief stop in Salamanca & Avila: 
After breakfast , attend the last session of the conference. Mass* is celebrated after the closing of the conference. Depart Portugal for Spain this afternoon. Our first brief stop is by the old Roman Bridge of Salamanca, a wonderful spot for beautiful pictures of Salamanca’s impressive Cathedral. After this brief stop, head south for the walled city of Avila, the birthplace of St. Teresa, the reformer of the Carmelite Order and first female Doctor of the Church. This evening, enjoy a fabulous dinner at our hotel in Avila. (B, D) * All Mass locations are subject to final approval from local ecclesiastical authorities.


Day 8: Sunday, September 12th, 2010: Avila, Sonsoles & Segovia: Enjoy a morning walk of Avila featuring the life of St. Teresa. Afterwards, if time allows, make a brief visit to the peaceful Marian Shrine of “Our Lady of Sonsoles”. Many Castilian pilgrims come here in the months of May and October to visit Our Lady. Then travel to historic Segovia. With its imposing Alcazar Castle, ancient Roman aqueduct and historic Cathedral, Segovia is one of the most captivating cities in Castile and one of UNESCO’s patrimonies of humanity. Mass is celebrated in Segovia. Afterwards, visit the church which houses the remains of St. John of the Cross, co-reformer of the Carmelite Order. Return to Avila for a leisure evening including dinner at the hotel. Before entering the walls of Avila visit the famous “Cuatro Postes” (four posts), a famous spot in the life of young St. Teresa and a great panoramic spot to take a picture of the city. Day 9: Monday, September 13th, 2010: Madrid:
Depart this morning for Madrid, the Capital of Spain. Enjoy a panoramic drive of Madrid’s most famous sights like "Puerta de Alcalá", the “Gran Via”, Cibeles Fountain, the Royal Palace and the neoclassical Cathedral of the “Almudena”, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Holy Mass celebrated in Madrid. After Mass enjoy a visit to the Talleres Granda one of the world’s most respected and talented artisan shops of liturgical arts. Anticipated Mass* for the Solemnity of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is celebrated in Madrid this evening. Afterwards, check into your hotel. Time to relax and pack for your next day’s transatlantic flight. Join your pilgrim family for the farewell dinner! Day 10: Tuesday, September 14th , 2010 (Feast of the Exaltation of The Holy Cross: Madrid to Chicago, USA (B, M):
After breakfast, transfer to Madrid’s Barajas Airport. As our plane takes-off, take one last look out the window at the unique landscape of this beautiful land and say:
Thank you Mary! ¡Gracias María! Obrigado Maria!
¡Adios España! Adeus Portugal!

Upon arrival in the United States, there is US Immigration Customs. Welcome Home!
